New Year’s resolutions? Bleh! Nope. I don’t believe in them, and I never have. I do, however, believe in revisiting and revamping your goals every year. I launched Felicia’s Closet on my birthday a little more than a year ago in November of 2017. I started a business doing what I love, completing a few goals, all while managing my complicated life. Boy, was it an eventful year when it came to both my professional and personal life. With that being said, life happens. Not just for me, but for all of us. I will spare you the details.

So instead of focusing on the negative: missed deadlines, low social media responses, juggling too many projects, lack of focus, etc. I am choosing to celebrate what I did accomplish. Some of those accomplishments are labeled outside of my actual styling business, but do lend to valuable networking and connections to expand my brand.

To list a few:

1. California Film Foundation’s Fashion on Film fashion show featuring GOS (Gerry Simpson) Art Wear marking the beginning of Sacramento Fashion Week.

2. My first film credit as Wardrobe Assistant for the local film production of “Apparition,” thanks to designer Anastasia Kryukova.

One of my biggest accomplishments was working as a Wardrobe Assistant and getting my first rolling credit for my work in the film, Apparition.

3. Networking with writers, directors, producers and actors at the American Black Film Festival (ABFF) in Miami.

Enjoying my time in Miami during the ABFF.

4. Accepted an invitation to network with Kingdomwood Film Festival in Atlanta.

Me attending the 10th annual Kingdomwood Film Festival.

5. Pounding the streets of the city during New York Fashion Week, which included a panel discussion with Black Panther costume designer, Ruth Carter. Local designer Latiya Gholar of American Umma presented her Dope Covered Apparel at the Roosevelt Hotel.

My experience at NYFW 2018.

In the midst of these accomplishments, I overcame two illnesses, planned and attended the glorious destination wedding of my son and new daughter-in-love!

This Christmas, fashion was always in mind as I donned a dress with African themed style. Thanks to Andre Perry, creative designer extraordinaire!

Looking ahead to 2019, I will be continuing my focus and brand as a stylist with clients working one-on-one helping to maintain healthy personal styles with regular seasonal closet edits and offering services that include buying and selling merchandise on consignment.
